Do I need to pay taxes when I purchase an item?
It depends on your state’s tax laws and where the vehicle will be titled and registered.
In most cases, when you purchase a vehicle through RideSafely, sales taxes are paid at the time of registration with your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), not on your final invoice.
General Tax Process
- Most U.S. states:
Taxes are collected by your local DMV when you register the vehicle in your home state. - This applies whether the vehicle has a clean or rebuilt title, as long as it is eligible for registration.
Florida Customers
If you are registering the vehicle in Florida, sales tax is collected at the time of purchase. This allows RideSafely to process and submit the title directly through the Florida DMV, helping avoid delays and ensuring compliance with state tax regulations.
Important: Tax rates, exemptions, and collection rules vary by state and may depend on factors such as residency, vehicle type, and intended use (personal or business).
