What does “MD Salvage – Greater Than 50%” mean?

Each U.S. state has its own vehicle title classifications, and in Maryland, salvage titles fall into two categories:

  • Salvage (50% Threshold) – A vehicle is considered salvage if the cost to repair it exceeds 50% of its fair market value.
  • Salvage (75% Threshold) – A vehicle is considered salvage if the cost to repair it exceeds 75% of its fair market value.

What Does This Mean for Buyers?

  • Both categories are considered salvage titles for inspection and rebuilding in the U.S.
  • These vehicles’ titles may also qualify for export.
