Why do I have to pay for a bid while the bidding process is ongoing?

The deposit confirms your genuine interest in bidding on an item. Should the item be successfully purchased but not paid for, the deposit covers the relisting fees at the auction. You are ensuring a committed and responsible bidding process for all participants. For more details on how this process benefits your auction experience, visit RideSafely’s FAQ section.

How do I start getting ready to bid?

To start bidding with RideSafely, identify the vehicle or item that captures your interest. Then, decide whether you want to place a pre-bid and let us bid on your behalf at the auction or participate directly in live bidding during the auction.

For pre-bidding, place your bid, review the associated fees, and confirm the fees. Upon confirming the fees, the system will prompt you to secure your bid with a deposit. This deposit, $600 or 10% of your bid amount (whichever is higher), can be conveniently made online using a credit or debit card. Monitor your chosen item until the auction closes to ensure your bid remains the highest. We will represent your interests up to the maximum amount specified during the auction.

Alternatively, if you prefer live bidding and the item is part of a live auction broadcast, you can click the “increase limit” option on the top right-hand corner of the page to place your deposit. This action enables you to participate in the live bidding process as the auction unfolds.

Why would a bid be rejected in a car auction?

In various car auction scenarios, sellers might choose to reject bids, especially if they foresee a possibility of obtaining a higher price by relisting the vehicle later. This approach is a common strategy aimed at maximizing profits in the dynamic and competitive world of car auctions.
