If a non-dealer buys a Peddle Non-Public Clean Title vehicle, do they get a clean title?
As your authorized proxy dealer, RideSafely facilitates the purchase of vehicles with a Peddle Non-Public Clean Title on your behalf. This restriction applies to direct auction buyers, but as a RideSafely customer, you can still bid and purchase these vehicles without a dealer license.
Title Reassignment & NMVTIS Regulations
- RideSafely will purchase the vehicle and reassign the clean title to you. As a dealer, RideSafely maintains the title’s clean status.
- While the title is considered clean at the time of sale, regulations under the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) may result in its reclassification as salvage.
- For instance, when you transfer the title at your local DMV, they may designate the vehicle as salvage based on its history.
- Although such cases are rare, it is important to be aware of this possibility and plan accordingly.
- If this occurs, you may need to complete a local reconstruction process to obtain a rebuilt or reconstructed title.
