What does an “Odometer Rollback” title mean?

An “Odometer Rollback” title is assigned when unscrupulous practices, such as rolling back an odometer to falsely reduce the displayed mileage of a vehicle, are detected. This fraudulent act, typically intended to increase the sale price by concealing high mileage, can only be identified by a certified mechanic. Once confirmed, these vehicles are branded with an odometer rollback title. Consulting vehicle history reports from CARFAX or AutoCheck can also reveal whether a vehicle’s odometer has been tampered with.
