Does the vehicle start?
A vehicle is typically verified to start and idle by the insurance auction staff upon arrival at the auction facility. However, there is no guarantee that the vehicle will start, run, or move forward under its own power at the time of pickup.
Important Details to Know
- Auction Verification:
If the auction verifies that a vehicle starts or runs at idle, this information will be displayed in the RideSafely listing. - No Operational Guarantee:
RideSafely cannot confirm a vehicle’s operational condition at the time of pickup, as most vehicles are stored at insurance auction yards with limited access for inspection and testing. - Dealer Access Only:
Physical inspections and testing are typically permitted only to licensed dealers. Private buyers do not have access to verify operational status prior to purchase.
What This Means for You
- Even if a vehicle is listed as “Runs & Drives” or “Engine Starts”, RideSafely cannot guarantee its condition at pickup.
- It is highly recommended to review the vehicle photos, check the Carfax or AutoCheck vehicle condition reports, and read the auction notes carefully before placing a bid.
