I’m buying a car and want to ship it to the UAE; which port will I receive it at?

The RideSafely logistics team can assist you with your vehicle purchase and manage the shipping to the United Arab Emirates. Our primary shipping destination in the U.A.E. is the Jebel Ali port.

Here are some essential details about importing a car from the U.S.A. to Dubai:

  • Import Duty: Expect to pay a 5% import duty on the total value of the car, which includes the vehicle’s price, insurance, and shipping costs.
  • Clearance Certificate: A fee of 4,700 AED is required for the clearance certificate.
  • Container Inspection: There is a 700 AED fee for the inspection of the container that transports the vehicle.
  • Blue Export Plates: A fee of 60 AED is required for the blue export plates that must be attached to the front and rear bumpers of the vehicle.
  • Clearance Certificate Paper: A fee of 10 AED is required for the clearance certificate paper.
  • Additional Fees: Expect to pay inspection fees, port charges, and clearing agent fees.

Other Considerations

  • Vehicle Age: Dubai restricts imports based on the vehicle’s age. Typically, vehicles over five years old are restricted.
  • Documentation: If original documentation is missing, customs may impose an additional $300 fee.
  • Car Owner Residency: The vehicle owner must be a resident of the UAE and hold a valid residence visa.
  • Special Carnet: For vehicles manufactured 10 or more years ago, a special carnet required for customs clearance must be obtained from the RTA.

Please note: All information is provided “as is.” We encourage you to consult an experienced international broker company, which simplifies the process of importing a car from the USA to Dubai.
